Frank Corbitt Lurie

Frank Corbitt Lurie, age 75, died at his Wimberley, Texas, home on April 9, 2021. A native Texan, Frank grew up in Houston, the younger son of Benjamin Franklin Lurie and Helen Smith Lurie. His father fondly called him François. His mother, with whom he shared a June 24 birthday, affectionately called him Corky.

Lois Knight Clark

Lois Knight Clark passed away at age 85 on March 26, 2021 in Wimberley, Texas. Born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, she was the daughter of dairy farmers Barney and Alma Knight. While raising three kids she graduated valedictorian from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. After teaching art and other various occupations she went to work for the Texas Department of Adult Protective Services and eventually transferred to Austin where she worked until her retirement in 1997.

Arthur Steven “Steve” Evans

Steve Evans died peacefully on April 1, 2021 at Brookdale Lakeway. He was 77. Steve was born in Los Angeles on April 8, 1943 to Donna Wells Evans and Orville Dutton Evans. Steve was raised singly by his mother until she married Richard Newell when Steve was 14. Growing up in Los Angeles in the ‘50s presented an interesting mix of experiences including running carnivals for company events under the watchful eye of his boss and mentor, Fred Hertwig, and multiple appearances on “The Betty White Show.”

Lila Luckie McCall

Lila Luckie McCall was born November 13, 1932, in Houston, Texas and died March 28, 2021, in Wimberley, Texas. Her parents, Margaret Warn Carter Luckie and Jo Horace Luckie as well as her brother, Charles Carter Luckie Predeceased her.

Carylon Ann Howell

Carylon Ann Howell, age 78, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2021 after a long fight with Alzheimer’s. Carylon was born in August of 1942 to Herman and Beatrice as the second of six children. She married her best friend and love, Bill, in May 1989. They enjoyed a long life of traveling, laughing and serving God. They spent every day together until her passing.

Moselle Walker

Funeral services for Moselle Walker, 97, of Hallettsville were held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Julie Anna (Johnson) Harrison

Julie J. Harrison passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, in the presence of loved ones. Julie was born on March 21, 1935 to Samuel F. and Alice W. Johnson in Houston, Texas. She grew up as the eldest of two daughters in a home that honored beauty and grace and early began training in classical ballet. She graduated from Houston’s Lamar High School and Baylor University in Waco, after which she briefly pursued a dance career in New York City.

Janelle Pepper Chew

Died of natural causes just a few days before what would have been her 91st birthday. Born to parents Ezra & Roberta Davis in Big Springs, Texas. She grew up in McKinney, Texas and went to college at what was then North Texas State University where she met and married Jim Pepper (James Earl Pepper). Their 1st child, Joani, was born in 1949, followed by Jack in 1950 and their last child, Jeff in 1952.

Robert Charles Tull

On Monday, March 8, 2021, beloved musician and educator Robert Charles Tull passed away at the age of 78. Born in Australia in 1943 to his now deceased parents Frank Hall Tull from Arkansas and Violet Harriett Lepper from Western Australia, Bob traveled with his mother to America with many other Navy brides during World War II. Bob attended UT Austin for his undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education. He performed as second trombonist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra for almost 30 years, where he met his surviving wife Paula E. Bird. Bob is best known for his service as a middle and high school band director. He touched many young students and infused them with a love of learning and appreciation for classical music. Bob was a lifelong member of the American Federation of Musicians.

Rodney A. Miller

Rodney Arthur Miller, 51, of Buda, Texas, died on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, followed by a service from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will take place at the Driftwood Cemetery in Driftwood, Texas. Estelle Maude Hill

On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, our loving mother, Estelle Maude Hill passed away peacefully at the age of 97 after a lengthy decline from Alzheimer’s. She died in Deer Creek Nursing Home of Wimberley, where she had been a resident since June 2015.
