    WAYNE D. LEDKINS

Wayne D. Ledkins

June 18, 1937 — February 1, 2022

Wayne Ledkins, retired Air Force Master Sergeant, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2022. Wayne was a resident of his treasured Wimberley, TX, which he first discovered in 1964, visited annually, and ultimately made his home in 2006.

Wayne Daniel Ledkins was born in 1937 in Vanderbilt, TX to Raymond and Viola Ledkins. His early years were spent in Edna, TX where he earned high honors in the Boy Scouts and later graduated in 1955. In high school, Wayne loved baseball, basketball, art, and most especially his sweetheart, August Cox, whom he married and spent the next 65 years with. Together they raised three children while Wayne served on active duty in the Air Force, pursued a career in the chemical manufacturing industry, and later returned to the Air Force as part of the “Hurricane Hunters” of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. A tireless worker, even after retirement in Wimberley, Wayne took on the role of Manager for the Cedar Oak Mesa Water Company.

Wayne was preceded in his heavenly journey by his parents Raymond and Viola Ledkins, his sister, Dorothy Campbell, and his brother Thomas Ledkins. He is survived by his wife, August Ledkins, daughter Cindy Prewitt, sons Michael and Clayton Ledkins, grandchildren Jason Miles, Leslie Jones, Debra Klibert, Bonnie Miles, Troy Miles, Ray Ledkins, and great-grandchildren Faith, Joey, Max, Brent, Joanna, Brielle, Cadence, Gus, and Olivia.

In reflection, Wayne’s life was one of dedication, generosity, service, integrity, and selflessness. These values were evident in his lifelong achievements, accomplishments, and the acknowledgements of all who knew him. More than this, however, Wayne leaves his legacy of love and faithfulness to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom he now shares eternity.
