Robert Douglas Widenor

Robert Douglas Widenor, born March 25,1930 in San Diego, CA passed on to the next adventure on May 20, 2019. He shared his life with his patient and beautiful wife Barbara Rae; daughter Carol and her husband, Kevin, daughter Sharen; step daughter Jennifer and her husband, Rodelio and step daughter, Lisa and her husband, Ken.

A California Maritime Academy 3rd Assistant Engineer, he sailed for Standard Oil, and also served in the Korean War. As an engineer for General Electric, and in various positions in the burgeoning computer science industry, Bob moved across the country multiple times, finally landing in Dallas, TX with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). During his 15 yrs. with ARCO, he also worked in Anchorage, Alaska and on the North Slope.

In Dallas, TX, Bob met the love of his life Barbara Rae through their love of tennis. The couple chose to retire to Wimberley, TX largely due to the glowing declarations of their friends Ken and Phyllis Kessler. The town was all the Kesslers had claimed and provided a sanctuary, and a family of friends. Their children and their children’s children relished their visits to the Widenor home and the artistic community.

Barbara Rae and Bob traveled the world, Australia, New Zealand, China, Tibet, Scotland, Russia, and Germany. In addition, they shared excellent adventures and created memories with family and friends at their time shares in Hot Springs, AR and New Orleans, LA.

Bob was cremated and his ashes will be spread with those of his furry companions that have run ahead. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue, www.wimberleywagrescue.org.

A wise man was asked what he thought happened when one dies? Answer - Those that love him will miss him. Bob Widenor will be missed.
