Harriet Lieber Thompson

Harriet Lieber Thompson, PhD, died after a lengthy illness on December 31, 2018. Born Aug 4, 1925, in Shreveport LA to Clara and Phillip Lieber. She graduated from Byrd HS in 1941, then attended Centenary College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1944. She received a Master of Education in 1962 and her PhD from Purdue University in 1972.

Harriet worked for the State Hospital in Rusk TX as a clinical psychologist in the outpatient clinic from 1973 until she retired. She and her husband, Fagan, moved to Wimberley TX where they created “Sanctuary”, a healing place for the environmentally challenged.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fagan, Harriet is survived by her three sons - Robin (& Jean), Geoffrey (& Trout) and Christopher (& Sherri) Pomeroy; grandchildren - Danielle Pomeroy and Michael Pomeroy; Randy, Robert, Jean Ann Scoggin and Kathryn S. Harvey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was instrumental in the establishment of Shreveport’s All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church. Harriet sought to improve and better the lives of those she met on life’s journey, often going out of her way to do so. She was warm and funny; a fiercely loyal friend and mother. Many thanks to the caring staff of Kindred Hospice, Deer Creek of Wimberley and the wonderful Shirley Miller.
