Dorothy Sellars Martin

Dorothy Sellars Martin “Gram” went to paradise on November 6, 2019. She lived an 80-year life full of compassion, resiliency and overwhelming love for others and the Holy Spirit. After suffering a major stroke in 2013, she made an inspirational recovery and enjoyed the last 5 years living in Dallas with her family.

Dorothy was a regular volunteer at her local thrift store and was the best at finding diamonds in the rough. In her “golden years”, she enjoyed traveling to amazing places and seeing God’s creations with her good friends. She was known as the “Hug Lady” at her home church in Wimberley. She was a very avid reader, especially after figuring out how to work a Kindle. She overcame many exhausting trials throughout her life, but you would never know it by her sweet and uplifting disposition. She was adored by all who knew her.

Her genuine heart and laughter will be missed dearly by her loving daughter, Sue Neal; tireless son, Richard Sellars; sweet sisters, Jean Huckabee and Nancy Browning; faithful son-in-law Carl Neal; and three proud grandchildren, Richard Sellars, Carla Neal and Jordan Neal. Her heart actually beat for 10 whole minutes after she took her last breath - we assume she was taking forever to pick out her outfit, as usual. We rejoice knowing she was greeted by the Lord and reunited with her first husband, Harold Sellars; second husband, Paul Martin; and beloved son, Keith Sellars.

Her celebration of life will be Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church of Wimberley.
