Darlene Shuttlesworth

Darlene Shuttlesworth died peacefully on September 25th, she had recently turned age 85. She is survived by her husband Fred, married for 62 years, and their two children, Mark Shuttlesworth and Jane Ann Shuttlesworth Masner. Darlene was born in the small town of Argonia, Kansas on September 17, 1933. At age seven her mother died and she relocated to South Texas in McAllen and was primarily raised by her older sister Eleanor and her older brother Richard. Fred and Darlene met when Fred was just out of the service at a dance and they married soon after on December 23, 1955. While in Wimberley Darlene was very involved in numerous church and charitable activities. She was the treasurer and a co-founder of Habitat for Humanity and The Village Store. Darlene was the treasurer or asst. treasurer for numerous other organizations here in Wimberley and was thus sometimes referred to as “The most trusted woman in Wimberley”. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held here on Wednesday October 10th at 2:00 pm at Chapel in the Hills. The family asks that instead of sending flowers please make a contribution to the Chapel in the Hills Memorial Fund in her name
