    ANN D. FORTESCUE

Ann D. Fortescue

Ann D. Fortescue, 82, of Wimberley, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2019.

Born in Baytown, Texas, on September 9, 1936, Ann was the daughter of former Wimberley residents, Jean and Joe Dzilsky. Following in her parent’s footsteps, Ann moved to Wimberley in 2007 to retire to the hill country home she so dearly loved.

Ann began her professional career as a teacher in Austin, Texas after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas. She took time out from teaching to raise her two daughters after moving to Dallas with her then, husband Zachariah Thomas Fortescue III, an attorney. Capitalizing on her artistic talents, and a love of beautiful surroundings, Ann attended El Centro College School of Design in Dallas, and became an accomplished, published professional Interior Designer specializing in commercial medical space and design. One of her projects being St Paul Hospital and professional building in Dallas, TX.

She was an inventor and later awarded a patent for her dressing nook which became a common fixture in many medical facilities.

Ann’s love for the outdoors and the quiet beauty of the hill country always called her back to Wimberley where she rescued and cared for her large breed Scottish Deerhounds who became a fixture at the “top of the hill” on her land, roaming free and chasing after the many resident deer.

Ann loved her volunteer work at the Wimberley Village Store thrift shop where she was a board member and also continued to use her design talents to create uniquely beautiful weekly displays.

She is survived by her two daughters; Jean and husband, Joe Waldschmidt of Wimberley, Texas; and Celeste and husband, Frai Hamid of Plano, Texas as well as her two loving granddaughters, Morgan & Teagan Waldschmidt, her sister, Sally and husband, Ray Barrilleaux of Duluth, Georgia and nieces, Lee Barrilleaux of Sarasota, Florida and Sarah and husband, Brion Zaeh of Suwanee, Georgia.

Ann set the bar high as a loving and supporting mother, grandmother and accomplished Interior Designer.

She was always full of joy with her positive, loving outlook.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Wimberley United Methodist Church located at 1200 CR 1492, Wimberley, TX 78676.
