    ALANA MARIE BIGGS

Alana Marie Biggs

May 20, 1944 - February 28, 2020

Alana Biggs passed away peacefully in her home on February 28th, 2020. She was wrapped in the love of her family during one of her favorite times...a rare, warm, and sunny day in February filled with singing birds and the first hints of spring.

Alana graduated from Hastings (Nebraska) High School in 1962, attended Kansas State University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She transferred to Hastings College and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Education. Alana married her high school sweetheart, Craig, December 28th, 1965. They moved to Santa Barbara, CA. where Alana taught elementary school. During her teaching career, she guided first graders through their introduction to reading, special needs students, technical writing (surprising all of us, mostly her!) and junior high. After two years in California, Alana found herself following Craig to Ft. Benning, GA. where he completed Officers Candidate School before his deployment to Viet Nam.

Career moves had Alana teaching and raising a family in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and finally Texas. Retiring to the Lost Pines, Alana was sure she had found her dream home in the woods, only to have it destroyed by the Bastrop Complex Fire of 2011. Ever resilient and always looking forward, Alana and Craig moved to Wimberley.

Alana was an outdoor person. She loved gardening, birds, the ocean, long walks...and anything that included sunshine.

But mostly she enjoyed her family. Nothing was more fulfilling for Alana than time with her children and grandchildren.

Alana is survived by her husband, Craig, of Wimberley, and two children: James Biggs of Bastrop; and Kerry Collie-Watson of Austin. Two brothers, David Hoffman and his wife Connie of Pryor, OK and Rick and Linda Hoffman of Topeka, KS also survive Alana. Her five grandchildren are; Kendyl McKeon of Fort Worth, Brendan Biggs of Waxahatchie, Ben and Drew Collie of Austin and Blair Watson of Houston.

Memorial services are scheduled to be held Sunday, March 8th, 2:30pm at Memory Lane Event Center, 403 KC Memory Lane, Dripping Springs, TX. 78620. Casual dress, please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
