Wimberley High School seniors gathered at Scudder Primary of Friday to get ready to graduate at Texan Stadium. The wait turned out to be longer than expected as thunderstorms rolled in. Graduation was postponed until Saturday when the weather cleared and everyone was able to walk across the stage safely.
The Blanco River is usually is a beautiful thing, framed by cypress and other trees with green vegetation on both sides of the banks. The clear flowing water shows the unique beauty of the river’s porous limestone bed. Birds, deer, and other creatures are abundant and enjoy the river, probably as much as people do, vacationers and locals. Laughter, and smiles are the order of the day.
The sewer system project for the city of Wimberley is nearing completion as the final phase of the project to reach from the bridge over Cypress Creek to the lift station by H-E-B is under construction.
The Hays County Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission (POSAC), which was created in 2020 and recently restarted, is seeking additional project submissions that would be funded by Proposition A, a Parks & Open Space Bond, approved by voters in the November General Election.
The Wimberley Institute of Cultures presented the Bill Johnson Scholarships of $1,000 each to two graduating WHS seniors, Luthary Segura and Kyla Ann Simpson. (See other scholarship winners on page 4) Luthary will attend Trinity University and Kyla Ann will attend Texas A&M in the fall.
Boy Scouts of Wimberley, Troop 127, took part in honoring those soldiers and sailors who gave the ultimate sacrifice. On Saturday morning, the troops gathered at local cemeteries to place flags on the graves of to those veterans who are no longer with us, but will not be forgotten.
