Civic Club’s first annual golf tournament successfully tees off

It was an audacious gamble to launch a brand-new golf tournament in 2021 but the Wimberley Community Civic Club took up the challenge and inaugurated the First Annual Civic Club Golf Tournament at the Woodcreek Golf Course on May 17. Led by Club organizer Robin Lowe and managed by a small army of volunteers, the event attracted 17 foursomes to the Quicksand course. Sponsors came forward to support the tourna ment in multiple categories including the sponsorship of four foursomes of first responders from the Wimberley area. The tournament raised $14,500, which added to the $32,000 the Civic Club donated to local nonprofits and scholarships in June. Scrambles, prizes, gift bags, breakfast tacos, lunch, and a wine and spirit pull were all part of the fun.
