Wimberley’s Volunteer Fire Department became Wimberley Fire and Rescue. Although they still have volunteers they also have some full time staff. Being ready 24/7 means full time staff 24/7. Having facilities to operate is crucial to the valley and beyond.

Woodcreek proclaims Constitution Week

The city of Woodcreek proclaimed the week of September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week. The proclamation “urges all citizens to study the Constitution and reflect on being an American.” Pictured is Woodcreek Mayor Gloria Whitehead with the proclamation. Constitution Day is September 17 of each year. This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution, according to DAR’s website dar.org. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17- 23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
