Seventeen Southeast Texas counties have been declared disaster areas after Hurricane Nicholas came ashore, dumping more than a foot of rain and cutting off power to a half-million customers in Texas, according to poweroutage.us. That number had been reduced to about 4,200 as of Sunday.
More than 50 vehicles participated in the Wimberley Pride Ride, which highlighted an entire weekend of events put on by Wimberley Pride. Originally scheduled as a pride march, organizers elected to change to a vehicle parade due to COVID-19 concerns.

Wimberley’s Volunteer Fire Department became Wimberley Fire and Rescue. Although they still have volunteers they also have some full time staff. Being ready 24/7 means full time staff 24/7. Having facilities to operate is crucial to the valley and beyond.

More engineering work has been approved for the Wimberley sewer system following concerns that certain areas of the sewer system may not be adequately designed to successfully provide service.

The Hays County Commissioners Court approved the submission of a grant application to the St. David’s Foundation by Connected Nation. If awarded funds by the grant, Connected Nation would participate in research and create maps that highlight the areas in Hays County that have little or inefficient broadband access.

The city of Woodcreek proclaimed the week of September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week. Constitution Day is September 17 of each year. This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution, according to DAR’s website dar.org. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17- 23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
