Halloween preview at Symphony

Symphony of Wimberley gave trick or treaters a bit of a preview of what is to come. On Saturday, they hosted Truck or Treat so some of the seniors living at the facility could watch all those dressed up for Halloween walk by. A few even came out to hand out candy themselves. Pictured above are Parker Brister and Canton Anderlitch grabbing a sweet treat from one of the trunks parked at Symphony of Wimberley. Redistricting to bring new representation

The state legislature has finished redrawing the political maps, and Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign the maps into law. If the maps hold up against legal challenges, new representation is on the way for the northwest half of Hays County including the Wimberley Valley and Dripping Springs. The changes, which in some cases split Hays County into two districts, impact the area’s state and congressional representation from both sides of the political spectrum.

The price of a gallon of gasoline tops $3 across much of the state, which is up more than $1.20 from a year ago, according to AAA. Crude oil price is one of a quartet of factors that influence the cost of gasoline, reported The Dallas Morning News. The cost of refining, distribution expenses and taxes also affect the price at the pump.

So long and thanks for all the stories

When Dalton asked me to join him and the new owner of the Wimberley View almost eight years ago, I felt honored and said, “Yes, of course.” There have been a lot of great Central Texas newspaper writers at the View such as my mentor Dale Roberson, Louie Bond, Patrick Cox, “Mac” McClure and our present editor Dalton Sweat. They have written stories to keep the Wimberley Valley informed and have done a great job the past 24 years that I have lived here.
