Following a lengthy discussion, the Hays County Commissioners Court approved a redistricting map that drew community concern.
Hays County’s redistricting map proposed by Precinct 3 Commissioner Lon Shell received a wide range of reactions after its approval on Tuesday.
Keeping local waterways clean is the focus of the upcoming Hays County Development Services team’s annual Stormwater & MS4 Program workshops. The Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System is aimed toward regulating stormwater runoff and keeping it clean before it hits rivers and lakes.
Katherine Anne Porter School announced its policy that this school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibil ity requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.

A truck towing Bobcat machinery slipped off the Climbing Way Bridge in the Paradise Valley subdivision on Monday morning. According to city offi cials, the accident occurred just after 6 a.m. The downhill slope leading onto the bridge was wet. When the driver pressed the brakes, the heavy machinery caused the trailer to jackknife before it slipped off the edge of the bridge. It took two large tow trucks to move the equipment a little before 11 a.m., after which the truck continued to pull the machinery to its job site. There was no signifi cant damage to the bridge. Members of Wimberley’s VFW Post 6441 this Saturday will honor all area veterans and their families with an open house and free lunch.
The Hays County Redistricting Advisory Commission (RAC) presented the court with proposals for the commissioner’s precincts.
Rob Campbell retained his seat on the Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees and will be joined by two new trustees in Andrea Justus and Nathan Cross. In Woodcreek, Councilmember Jeff Rasco defeated Councilmember Aurora LeBrun for Mayor. Councilmember Brent Pulley was re-elected, and he will be joined on the council by Debra Hines. Voters also approved Proposition A from Hays County Emergency Services District #4 for Wimberley Fire and Rescue.
Wimberley Gold Santa is back in action as part of their effort to help children and families who are in need.
The Hays County Commissioners Court voted in favor of funding a needs assessment for a mental health facility following a workshop held during last week’s regular meeting.
