Wonder at Winter’s Eve

The Wimberley Merchants Association showed the town a good time on Saturday. Instead of concentrating on the Wimberley Square, as in times past, the whole downtown area was part of the celebration. Events, bands and food were up and down Ranch Road 12 and Old Kyle Road.

Another change was entry into the raffle. Seventeen gift baskets stocked with goodies from the merchants. All you had to do was visit ten merchants and get your paper ticket stamped by each.

Bands also played up and down Ranch Road 12, with groups playing C & W, rock, Latin, and folk. Some merchants were even offering free adult beverages, but the best, as it is every year, was the arrival of Santa Claus. This year he showed up in a classic 1952 Chevrolet Pick up truck and located at Dovetails. The merchants also picked up the tab on the children’s picture with Santa, printing copies on the spot.

It was a fun time for the entire city, seeing friends and making new ones. While doing so everyone also became acquainted with the local businesses, on which this town depends.
