Wimberley library plans limited re-opening

The Wimberley Village Library will reopen on a limited basis on May 26, according to Library Director Carolyn Manning.

Hours of operation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

“Patrons will be allowed entrance to the library to pick up and check out reserves, to browse and to purchase books that are for sale and also to browse and check out books on the shelves,” she said.

However, Manning said, “At this time, and per the governor’s recommendations, we will only allow up to 25 percent of our normal occupancy, and we cannot allow use of the library’s computers, printer/copier, newspapers and magazines and toys in the youth room.”

She said she asks that patrons:

• Self-monitor distance from other patrons;

• Act quickly in making materials selections and not loiter inside the library for more than 15 to 20 minutes;

• Wear a mask if you have one.

“The staff and I look forward to opening for our regular days and hours of operation and full use of our materials, services and programs as soon as we feel it is safe to do so,” Manning said.

For the last several weeks, the library staff has offered “front-porch” service only. That ends on May 25.
