Wedding Announcement of Emily Preece & Jeremiah Ramey

Emily Preece and Jeremiah Ramey, both of Waco, Texas, were married on May 4, 2019, (also known as Star Wars Day) at 1:00 PM in the Wedding Garden at Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie, Texas. The ceremony was performed by Frank Zepp in character as Oan Mkoll, the Duke of Inverness. Family in attendance included the bride’s parents Ed and Louise Preece of Wimberley, Texas, and her grandmother Juanita Preece of Johnson City, Texas. The groom’s father Michael Ramey of Waco, Texas, also attended. Ed Preece gave away the bride, who wore a Celtic-inspired silver gown with flowing georgette off-the-shoulder sleeves and lace-up bodice embroidered with vines and a Celtic Tree of Life. Wearing a tiara of grey and clear crystals and streaming white ribbons, the bride carried a bouquet of blue, silver, and cream colored roses made from recycled paper and book pages from The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter novels.

The bride’s attendants included maid of honor Sarah Bond, matron of honor Sarah Ticer Quick, and bridesmaid Megan Pevey. All three wore sapphire blue sundresses with embroidered bodices and full handkerchief skirts. Each attendant was crowned with a flower garland with flowing colorful ribbons and carried a bouquet of white roses bound with navy blue ribbon.

The groom’s brother Joshua Ramey served as best man. Michael Ramey, the groom’s father, and Wade Wilson were groomsmen.

A reception and lunch banquet were held at the Castle Pavilion at Scarborough Renaissance Festival. The wedding cake was a three-tiered, hexagonal Mexican vanilla and white chocolate cake embellished with silver Celtic knot-work on the sides, blue flowers, and a pewter cake topper of two entwined dragons forming a heart shape. Paying homage to the date, the groom’s cake was a red-velvet confection modeled after the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars.

The bride graduated Wimberley High School in 2002. Afterwards she attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism in 2006 and a Master of Science in Information Studies in 2009. She is currently employed at Texas State Technical College as the public services librarian.

The groom graduated Gregory-Portland High School in 1999. After serving in the United States Navy from 1999 until 2003, he attended Texas State Technical College. There he earned Associate of Applied Science degrees in Network Security Technology and Computer Networking and Systems Administration in 2009. He is currently employed at zColo Waco.
