Vote on Aqua Texas coming

A vote on the future of the Wimberley Wastewater Treatment Plant appears to be forthcoming.

Wimberley Mayor Susan Jaggers said that she plans to hold a special meeting on July 19 following the regular council meeting to take a council vote on the future direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The two central options involve staying the course the city is currently on, which would involve the city building and operating the treatment plant, or changing course and sending the effluent collected by the city-owned collection system to Aqua Texas for treatment.

Jaggers and many on the city council have said that the last few months has been essentially a fact-finding mission to determine which course they feel is best for the city of Wimberley. Jaggers told the Wimberley View that she believes all necessary information will be known by the July 19 meeting and expects a vote to be taken.

Jaggers said that the city is planning on holding the July 19 meeting at the WISD Administrative Building in order to accommodate more people. A regular meeting will be scheduled at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall on the same day .The Wastewater Treatment Plant discussion will be given a separate agenda with a time not to start before 7:30 p.m. at The WISD Administration Building.

The city has also canceled the regular city council meeting for Thursday, July 5 following the holiday. A Special City Council meeting is planned for Tuesday, July 10 at 5:30 p.m.
