Three locals dead in car crash

Three people from Wimberley died in a multi-vehicle accident on Ranch Road 12 on Friday night last week.

Daniel Stuart Masullo, 44, of Wimberley, Angela Mary Masullo, 40, of Wimberley and Ramiro Ramirez, 22, of Wimberley, were all killed in the accident. At least three other people were injured, including two children who were transported to the South Austin Medical Center.

Ramirez was driving a 2006 Nisan Titan from the San Marcos area toward Wimberley. Near the Hugo Road intersection with Ranch Road 12, Ramirez’s truck drove on the wrong side of the road and struck a vehicle on the rear of the driver’s side just after 8 p.m. The truck continued in the southbound lane and struck a 2007 Lincoln MKX, which was carrying the Masullo family, head on.

The truck then caught fire.

Ramiro Ramirez graduated from Wimberley High School in 2014. He leaves behind a wife and young baby. He was described on a GoFundMe page raising money for his family as “hardworking, generous, hilarious friend, father, son and husband.”

Angela Masullo worked as the office manager for Wimberley Wellness, a local doctor’s office, which put out a post on Facebook that they would be closed for the week to grieve.

“Angela brought warmth, compassion, and humor into our clinic every day,” the Facebook post from Wimberley Wellness said. “She was irreplaceable in so many ways, and within the clinic, the importance of her role as office manager could not be overstated. Angela was also the sister to our primary care provider Gabria Cathcart, for whom we ask that you send your love and support during this time of incredible loss. In light of this tragedy, we will be closing our doors to grieve and gather ourselves from June 18th ~ June 22nd.”

Dan Massulo was one of the owners of The Junction Drinkery and Eatery.

“Dan and Angela every path you crossed you made everyone’s life better,” a Facebook post from The Junction Drinker and Eatery said. “You will dearly be missed but never forgotten. Please keep them in your prayers along with their children who are still fighting and hanging on. Hug your family and friends daily and tell them how much you love them. Life is too short to be angry and unhappy you never know what tomorrow brings.”

The Massulo’s children were transported to the South Austin Medical Center. According to a GoFund-Me post raising money for the family, both were still in critical condition as of Sunday.
