STEAM has kids looking to the future

For the fourth year in a row, Wimberley High School’s CATE and other departments put on the STEAM Fair. Hundreds attend this annual event and it did not disappoint.

The initials stand for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. These different areas of knowledge, when combined, lead to mastering new technologies and needed skills while learning to work with others.

These new areas were on display at Saturday’s event. Kids, parents and grandparents were all enthralled by the exhibits, such as the dairy milking or the Lifeflight helicopter on display. The exhibits were indoors due to the misty drizzling rain.

Students with experiments viewed commercial displays and the future right at hand, showing things unimaginable just a few decades ago. And, best of all, the event was highlighting student’s talents from Danforth and the high school. The skills on display and now studied will come in handy in the 21st century. It was nice to see it on display.
