St. Stephens students use market to learn, raise money for WAG

As part of their Open Air Market at St. Stephen’s Episcopal school, the fourth grade students were able to raise $700 dollars for their mission to donate to the Wimberley Adoption Group.

With just 16 students, the 4th grade class of Mrs. Cathy Boles set up an open air market where the students created and sold their products that they made themselves selling them for $2 or less

“I have 16 students who raised $700 dollars,” Boles said. “It was just amazing and phenomenal with eight booths. Those 16 kids were able to raise $700, selling handmade stress balls, feather pens with invisible ink, baked goods, pet rocks and origami art… They couldn’t believe that they made so much money with homemade products, everything was under two dollars or less.”

Part of the process was teaching the students about finances and how to set up their own booths and flyers while also teaching the stu dents how to sell their handmade products.

The students then choose what nonprofit organization they were going to give the money to, which turned out to be the Wimberley Adoption Group.
