PHOTO BY GARY ZUPANCIC/WIMBERLEY VIEW Olde Towne Plaza is now bright and inviting to Wimberley visitors at each shop and business..

The rebirth of Olde Towne Plaza

If you have driven Ranch Road 12, you’ve might have noticed the painting going on, and not just at Trio’s. Across the road, a lighter, brighter Olde Towne Plaza is getting a sprucing up and a new look.

It’s not a new shopping area, but often overlooked, even though it is in plain sight right off the Square. Before this rebirth, the buildings looked dated and dark. But with a few tenants moving out, some changing locations within and some moving in, it has a whole new look.

The impetus behind the transition has been the owners of Junktique 2 Rustic Elegance Shop, is a trio of siblings, whose business just moved to the back Olde Towne six months ago. Other tenants joined in the cleanup and all the businesses have gone a transformation.

The trio is composed of sisters Diana Sulzer, the businesswoman, Rosemary Galvener, the interior decorator, and craft furniture maker, brother John Valusek. The shop is an amalgamation of ideas and has a little bit of items for every taste. Including for the sportsman, antiques, tasteful decorations for the living or any room, jewelry and other items.

“Our family had a desire to own a business like our parents who were in the grocery business in LaMarque. It was on our bucket list and after each of us retired from lifelong occupations, we searched and decided on Wimberley and Olde Towne Plaza,” Sulzer said.

“We looked at Wimberley two years ago and came back to it…It was a nasty place. It had to be completely redone.” This is something that has happened in a very short period of time, and in the redo’s wake that includes the rest of the shopping mall shops.

The other shops are just as appealing, well lit with desirable items in the windows of the freshly painted shops, both on the outside of the shops as well as the bright friendly interiors.

The assortment of the shops located in Olde Towne Plaza offer great browsing opportunities for locals and visitors alike. The shops include:

•Mary’s Antiques and Himalayan Salt Shop featuring salt lamps, antiques and gifts

•Zen Soap featuring gift soaps and CBD gifts, crystals and unique finds

• Wildflower Art Gallery

•River Rock Handcrafted Jewelry and Global Gallery with handcrafted jewelry and other items

• In the Beginning Wood Creations with custom furniture and more

• Junktique 2 Rustic Elegance Shop

Somewhat buried, but now in an update, call it Olde Towne Plaza 2.0, it is worth a look. It is located at 13801 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley, TX 78676
