Rare camping opportunity at Blue Hole
Camping in Blue Hole Regional Park is usually reserved for the Boy Scouts. The public is now allowed to camp over night. That made last weekend a special opportunity for local families as the park hosted the Blue Hole Family Campout.
Due to overcast skies, the Star Party at Blue Hole was moved to April 6.
Approximately ten families, or 40 people, chose to camp out at Blue Hole’s swimming area with footballs flying and children’s squeals of laughter.
“The staff is even going to camp out…I’ve got three comforters,” City Parks Director Becca Manning said.
Although the temperature Saturday night dipped into the 40s, it just made cozying up to the fire pit all the better.
“The 1ST Annual Blue Hole Family Campout was a huge success,” Project and Operations Manager Richard Shaver said. “It turned out so well we might have two family campouts a year, in the spring and fall.” For more information about upcoming events and the April 6 Star Party see the park’s website at:
