Players dedicate garden, honor former president

With a stone inscribed with a quote by William Shakespeare that read, “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin,” the Nick Bradshaw Memorial Garden was dedicated on Wednesday during a ceremony at the Wimberley Players theater.

Bradshaw family members joined WP Board President Elaine Cardenas, Managing Artistic Director Trish Rigdon, board members and theater friends in dedicating the garden. Several guests offered remarks that remembered Bradshaw for his contributions to the Theatre.

Bradshaw served as board president from 2020 to 2022 and was a long-time volunteer starting in 2012. He successfully steered the theater through the pandemic when many theaters were forced to close their doors permanently.

As a Master Gardener, Bradshaw oversaw the planting, and later the maintenance, of the WP garden. Designed by Nan Simpson, who attended the dedication, he lobbied for the garden to be a Hays County Master Gardener project and served as its official lead.

The dedication followed a work session by volunteers that included his wife Deb Bradshaw and daughter Lauren. After the ceremony, well-wishers gathered in the lobby of the theater to toast Bradshaw and remember his leadership and spirit of inclusivity.
