One life lost in fatal accident

One person died and another was sent to the hospital in serious condition last week.

The accident occurred on October 9 at 12:07 p.m. on FM 3237 at Deer Lake Estates. The driver Christopher Ray Bostick, 34, from Austin, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving a Whim Hospitality delivery truck.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the truck was traveling at an unsafe speed southwest towards Wimberley when it left the roadway to the right and struck a tree. The vehicle caught on fire and was burned completely. The 22-year-old passenger, who was also from Austin, was transported to Ascension Seton Hays hospital. The flames started a small grass fire at the scene of the accident.

Whim Hospitality, a wedding and event planning company from Dripping Springs, released a statement about the accident on Facebook.

“We are heartbroken,” the statement said. “This week, we suffered a loss when one of our Whim family members passed away as the result of a vehicle accident while at work. Since this accident, we have received countless messages of love and support from our friends, neighbors, clients and industry peers. We are blessed to have such a tight-knit community to support each other in difficult times like this. We thank you for all of the support we’ve received.

A Go Fund Me account has been established by the surviving members of Christopher Bostick’s family to assist with funeral and recovery expenses. We encourage anyone who is so moved to donate.”
