Observance of Patriots Day
Wed, 09/09/2020 - 4:00am
From Staff Reports
This year’s Wimberley observance of Patriot Day will be subdued in comparison to previous events.
Because of the restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no speeches, patriotic music or public ceremony. At 9 a.m., Friday, September 11, members of Wimberley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6441 will quietly lower the flags at the Veterans Memorial Plaza at EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens to half-staff. They will return the flags to full staff at 6 p.m. that day.
September 11 has been designated as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on the United States on that date in 2001.
