NEW STOPLIGHT

Construction to add traffic signal, lane at Winters Mill, FM 3237

Work began this week at the intersection RM 3237 and Winters Mill Parkway in Wimberley. Hays County Commissioner Lon Shell, Pct. 3, said the end result will be a safer roadway.

“The work at this intersection, which includes new turn lanes and a new traffic signal, will improve safety and reduce traffic back-up in the area,” he said.

According to the Hays County Transportation Department, the project will widen the existing pavement. The scope includes adding turn lanes at the intersection on both roadways and installing a new traffic signal.

Crews will also perform the following work:

• Overlay the existing pavement

• Construct drainage improvements (culvert extensions) and

• Restripe the roadways

• Training‐.5% to provide the new Pg. 3 layout.

Construction crews will maintain access to all driveways for the project duration.

Necessary lane closures will take place during non-peak traffic times. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the roadways. County road crews request those traveling in the area to drive with caution through the work zone.

This project began on September 27 and is expected to end in early 2023. The cost of the work is $2,056,525.60. This project is under the 2016 voter-approved bond program.

The Design Engineer is Cobb, Fendley & Associates. The Contractor is Aaron Concrete Contractors. Pape Dawson Engineers will provide CEI services.
