Memorial Day not forgotten

It was overcast and gloomy. After multiple inches of rain it was a mess to get up to the top of the hill at the EmilyAnn to Veterans Memorial Plaza. With thunder rolling in the distance, it was a perfect setting for a Memorial Day where thoughts are on those no longer with us who served in this country’s military.

No major celebrations, but a quiet honoring of the nation’s fallen heroes. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6441 members, under the leadership of Commander John Thompson, lowered the flags of all the military services, POWs/MIAs, the Texas flag and finally with “Taps” played by the bugler, VFW member Huey Sandifer, the U.S. Flag was lowered. Quiet, yes.

On a small hill in the Wimberley Valley, on Memorial Day 2020, those who served were not forgotten. VFW Post 6441 would not let that happen,.
