Library opens curbside service

From Staff Reports

Curbside service is returning for patrons of the Wimberley Village Library starting on May 4.

Director Carolyn Manning announced the decision to offer the service after consulting with other area librarians and with the library district board.

The library itself will remain closed to the public because of the Covid-19 virus pandemic.

The curbside program will be available from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays only.

Patrons can reserve books for curbside pickup by ordering items online at www.wimberleylibrary.org (use only the numbers on your card, not letters); or by contacting a librarian at 512-847-2188, ext. 101; or via email to circulation@ wimberleylibrary.org.

Available reserved materials will be ready for curbside pickup the following business day after 1 p.m. Here’s how to receive your books:

• Park in the library lot at 400 FM 2325, then call 512- 847-2188, ext. 101, or text the librarians at 512-806- 0801.

• Librarians will check out your items and then take them to a table on the front porch of the library. This may take a few minutes.

• Please remain in your vehicle or at least six feet away from the table. Once the staff members have gone back inside the library, you can pick your items from the table.

Manning stressed that all materials will have been processed as safely as possible before being checked out to patrons. When returning materials, please don’t use any chemicals on them. Simply put them in the return drop box on the east side of the library.

The library is still unable to accept or process donated materials.

“We appreciate our patrons’ patience during this trying period,” Manning said. “We will do our very best to keep everyone safe and healthy.”
