Independence Day Parade

The Independence Day Parade in Wimberley saw a record amount of entrees and what is believed to be a record crowd.

There were 107 entrees into the parade, which is the largest yet. The parade crowd was estimated to be between 5,000 and 8,000 people.

“The quality of the parade floats and entrees was better than every,” Cathy Moreman, executive director of the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce, said. “We had both quality and quantity. We also believe had more parade watchers than ever. It was truly the best little parade we’ve had.”

Century 21 Randall Morris and Associates won first place for the best float. The Wimberley Lions Club came in second and Wimberley Valley Dark Sky in third.

“It takes a lot of people to put on a parade,” Moreman said. “It’s not just the chamber. It is dozens of volunteers before, during and after the parade, and it is also largely attributed to the generosity of our sponsors. It is a community effort no doubt. Everybody gets behind the parade.”

Next year the parade will be held on Friday, July 3 because Market Days will be held on July 4.
