FIRST COUNTY COVID DEATH

Third confirmed case in Wimberley

The first fatality from COVID-19 in Hays County was confirmed on Monday afternoon. According to a press release from Hays County, the death was “a woman in her 80s who had been living in Buda with a relative.”

The third lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in Wimberley was confirmed this week. All three cases are still active. There are still no cases within the city limits of Woodcreek. The first case in Driftwood was reported this week.

Four more lab-confirmed cases were reported in the county’s daily update bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 93. So far, 42 people have recov-ered from the virus leaving 50 active cases. The active cases in the county have dropped over the last week. On Monday, April 6, there were 59 active cases compared to the 50 reported on Monday, April 13. This means that more people have been recovering from the virus in the last week than have newly been confirmed with the virus.

So far, nine people have been hospitalized from the virus with only one remaining in the hospital currently.

On top of the 93 total confirmed cases, the county has received 571 negative results and seven cases are pending.
