2nd Wednesday WimberleyValleyWorks Meetup

On Wednesday Dec. 11, 5:30 – 7 pm at the Wimberley Visitor’s Center (side door), WimberleyValleyWorks will host its monthly meeting. They encourage people of all ages to learn about the exciting plans being made by youth and supported by adults. All voices are essential for shaping the Valley’s future. Playoff Football

The Wimberley Texan football team will take on Silsbee in the State Semi-Finals on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Legacy Stadium in Katy.

“Mistletoe and Melodies” with Guy Forsyth & Jeska Bailey

Old Glory Ranch will host “Misteltoe and Melodies” with Guy Forsyth and Jeska Bailey on December 13th. Gates open @ 6:30pm and Food will be available for purchase from Pappa D’s Mobile Kitchen. Teatro Vivo at Wimberley Playhouse

The Wimberley Players will host Teatro Vivo, from the Indigenous Cultures Institute, at the Wimberley Playhouse on Saturday, December 14 at 2 p.m. One performance only. The event is free, but reservations are required. Reserve your seat at wimberleyplayers.org.

Winter’s Eve

Join the Wimberley Merchants Association in and around the square bridge to bridge from 5-9 pm on December 14 for Winter’s Eve and enjoy an evening of live music on multiple stages, gift baskets, drawings, children’s activities, food vendors, face painting and of course, Santa, who will visit from 5-7 pm behind the Wimberley Cafe. WISD Band and Choir at Sights and Sounds

The Sights and Sounds of Christmas takes place under the trees along the San Marcos River at San Marcos Plaza Park. On December 14, the Wimberley High School Steel Band will perform from 6 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. The Texan Band Tubas will perform from 6:40 p.m. to 6:55 p.m., The WISD Choir will perform from 7 p.m. to 7:25 p.m. and the Steel Band will perform once again from 7:30 p.m. to 7:55 p.m.

WAG Rescue Adoption Day

Come to King Feed, Saturday, December 14th, and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, are micro chipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are micro chipped. WAG Rescue provides a spay/neuter voucher through Emancipet. If you can’t come to an Adoption Day, we are always willing to arrange a meet & greet with you. Contact us at [email protected] and we will set up a convenient time.

Second Saturday Gallery Trail

Every month, around a dozen local galleries stay open late and welcome people to come early, stay late for wine and enjoy the light bites and an art-filled evening. Most galleries on the trail can be reached on foot around the Wimberley Square, but there are a few that you will want to get back in your car to visit. A Merry Musical Holiday Radio Broadcast The Starlight Symphony Orchestra will perform A Merry Musical Holiday Radio Broadcast at the Wimberley First Baptist Church on Sunday, December 15 at 4 p.m. The performance will feature selections from Leroy Anderson and favorite carols, selections from Trans Siberian Orchestra, Hays CISD Honor Choir, Wimberley Dance Elite and more.

Fundraiser for Kristin Kristin, daughter of Chef Jodie, has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. A fundraiser for the family will be held on Sunday, December 15 at Riley’s on the Backbone from noon until 8 p.m. with live music, raffles and plenty more.

Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines at Susanna’s Kitchen Terri Hendrix is an award-winning independent Texas songwriter who spins sorrow into joy and wrings wisdom from the blues with a poetic grace and engaging melodic flair that has endeared her to three generations of loyal fans around the globe. Lloyd Maines is a Grammy-award winning producer, steel guitar player and multiinstrumentalist. On December 19, Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse welcomes the duo back to Wimberley.

Trail of Lights The Hill Country’s Christmas treasure, the EmilyAnn Trail of Lights, opens November 30th and runs nightly through December 28th! New Year’s with the Wimberley Valley Big Band Ring in the New Year of 2020 with the great big band music provided by our own Wimberley Valley Big Band by joining us on December 31st at 9pm at the Wimberley Community Center in downtown Wimberley. Dance and party the old year out and welcome in the wonderful new year to the fabulous sounds of classic big band music of all the greats…Ellington, Dorsey, Basie, and others. The party will begin at 9 and end after we have toasted and danced the first dance of the New Year 2020 at midnight. Tickets available for $45 per person at the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce or on our website (via Paypal) wimberleyvalleybigband.org.

Polar Bear Plunge at Blue Hole JUMP into the New Year on January 1st at Blue Hole Regional Park for the 3rd annual Polar Bear Plunge & Fun Run at Blue Hole Regional Park! The event will start off with a 5K Fun Run at 10 am and a 1K Fun Run will begin at 11 am. Tickets are $20 per person and it includes admission to the 5K or 1K Fun Run, a special edition Blue Hole Polar Bear Plunge T-shirt, and a swag bag If you would not like to participate in the Fun Run, we will have a scheduled jump into Cypress Creek at 1:30pm, or you can come and plunge anytime during the event! We will have a fire at our fire pit, and we will be giving out hot drinks. Please see the full schedule below for more information. Make sure to bring a change of clothes and a towel.
