Lunch & Learn at the Wimberley Village Library

Managing Stress & Change with Dede Taylor will be held on Wednesday, October 16, Noon – 1pm. Deirdre Taylor, an inspirational speaker and coach certified by the Life Mastery Institute, will talk about why some changes feel more dramatic and are felt more deeply. Learn what emotional states to expect and how to get through them and what happens in the brain during stressful situations and how to minimize the effects.

Hill Country Herb Society meeting

The Hill Country Herb Society will meet on Wednesday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church. Stacie Primeaux from the Natural Gardener Watering wisely and how to prepare the herb garden for winter.

Jesse Dayton at Susanna’s Kitchen

You won’t want to miss Jesse Dayton on October 17 at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse, located at Wimberley United Methodist Church (corner RR 12 & CR 1492). The concert starts at 7:30, and doors open by 7:00 p.m. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee, and soft drinks are available. Tickets are sold at the door ($20 for adults’ admission, $5 for kids (under 18). Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Operation Good Shepherd, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, and Bright Beginnings Preschool.

PTRC Appreciation Breakfast

PTRC, located at 501 Old Kyle Road, will host an appreciation breakfast on Oct 17 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. as part of a celebration for National Physical Therapy Month.

Friends of Wimberley Library Gigantic Annual Book Sale

The library annual Book Sale will be held at Chapel in the Hills Hall, 14601 RR 12, Wimberley, Texas (Across from Dairy Queen) on Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, 2019. Preview Sale for Friends of the Village Library Members only on Friday, October 18, 1 – 5. Membership may be purchased at the door. On Saturday, October 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the sale will be open to the public. Great prices on everything!

Wimberley Gospel Music Festival

The 2019 Wimberley Gospel Music Festival will be held October 19th at the Wimberley VFW Post #6441, 400 Jacobs Well Rd. in Wimberley. Sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary, admission is free; there is a $5 parking fee. Creekside Cookers will be providing lunch and dinner and the VFW Auxiliary will have their concession stand open. Pumpkin Time by Starlight Symphony

The Starlight Symphony Orchestra will host Pumpkin Time on Sunday, October 20 at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wimberley. For more information visit startlightsymphony.org.

Hunter’s Night Out

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will host the annual Hunter’s Night Out on October 19 starting at 6 p.m. There will be a 30 gun raffle at the event. Tickets can be purchased online at www.huntersnightout.com or at the door.

WAGala

On October 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. WAG Rescue will host the 8th annual WAGala. Wine, beer, cocktails and passed appetizers will be followed by an epicurian buffet prepared by The Root Cellar. Live and silent auctions. The event will be held at Cedar Ranch. Tickets are $125. Seating is limited. Purchase tickets online at www.wimberleywagrescue.org.

Lunch & Learn at the Wimberley Village Library

A Call to Dance with Bees (and the rest of nature that they represent) with Les Crowder will be held on Wednesday, October 23, Noon – 1pm. Les Crowder has been keeping bees for 40+ years, was president of New Mexico Beekeepers Association for many years, a honeybee inspector for the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, and has taught beekeeping in many parts of the world. He advocates for keeping bees with knowledge of their biological needs and respect for them as partners and for nontoxic management of beehives. He will also discuss the work of pollination inside the hive; solitary, semi-solitary and social ants, bees and wasps, the powerful role of preditary wasps; and more.

Wimberley Valley Art League Annual Show and Sale

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host the annual Show and Sale on October 25, 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and October 27 from noon to 4 p.m. Original art, unique crafts for sale from over 50 artists. Opening night live music - Joey McGee and Beverly Garcia, demos, interactive exhibits. Open to the general public. No admission fees. The event will be held at the Wimberley Community Center.

Boo! Hole Halloween

Blue Hole Regional Park will host Boo! Hole Halloween on October 26 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be games, creepy animals, a haunted hayride, trick-or-treat trail a showing of Hocus Pocus and more. Costume contest for all ages from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

National RX Take Back Day

KWB and Hays Co Constables will be partnering again for our 6th “RX TAKEN BACK DAY” on October 26. The “drive-thru” collection will run from 10am - 2pm at the WISD Administration parking lot 951 FM 2325 between Subway and Carney Lane. Both Rx and OTC drugs will be collected but liquids, syringes or injectables will not be accepted.

Haunted Wimberley

The Wimberley Valley Radio Players, a collaboration between Wimberley Valley Radio and the Wimberley Players, will perform “Tales from the Devil’s Backbone,” a live radio performance that is also acted out at the 7A Resort Opera House. The performances will have a live audience on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, October 25 to 27. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8, 9 and 10 pm. Sunday at 8 and 9 pm.

Herb Fest 2019

Herb Fest 2019, An Italian Herb Feast, will be held on November 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Damian Mandola, world famous chef and restaurateur of Carrabba’s and Trattoria Lisina, will speak at 11 a.m. There will be a cooking demo, sit down lunch, silent auction and herbal product shop.

MoonGlow Big Ban Dance

Wimberley Valley Big Band invites you to The MoonGlow Big Band Dance on November 2 at the BackStage venue, located behind the burned-out former Cypress Creek Café on Wimberley Square. Gates open at 4:30 pm and music is from 5-8 pm. In case of rain, the dance is cancelled. The MoonGlow Dance requires tickets, but the tickets are free, available at Eventbrite or at the gate. Bring your lawn chairs, your blankets, your snacks and drinks (it’s byob), and possibly a flashlight. Parking available in the Public Parking Lot off Blue Heron Drive. We are pleased to announce that “Gringa’s Grub Shack” Food Truck will be on site, offering delicious burgers, tacos and snacks. Come to listen! Come to dance!

Pollinator Power! - Free Family Fun Day

Location: Jacobs Well Natural Area – 1699 Mt. Sharp Rd. Wimberley, TX Time: Saturday, November 2nd 12:00pm-2:00pm Details: Pollinators! Let’s learn about them! Come out to Jacob’s Well Natural Area on Saturday, November 2nd for a couple of hours of fun games and activities focused on our powerful pollinator friends. Specifically, bees, bats, and butterflies. We will talk about what pollinators are, the important role they play, and how we can help them do what they do! We will have models, specimens, games, and more! This event is part of our monthly Free Family Fun Day series. Event begins at Noon and will end around 2:00 p.m. Guided Hike will begin at 1:45 p.m. No tickets necessary to participate. This event is FREE to the public.

Wimberley Valley Art League Juried Show

The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a juried show. The juror will be Dripping Springs mixed media artist Debbie Little-Wilson. The opening reception will be on November 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. More information can be found at wimberleyartleague.org.
