Café Susanna

Cafe’ Susanna begins her 16th season serving delicious meals to the community on June 6th from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The fare will be good ole’ church cookin’ featuring an entree’, two sides, bread, ice tea and your choice of desserts from our table of decadent home-made choices for only $9.00. Come and join the fellowship and good food every Thursday during June, July & August. We are located at 1200 CR 1492 at Wimberley United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, we will not be serving lunch on August 8th but all other Thursdays we will be ready and waiting for you. Remember, we have “Take-Outs”.

Haunted Pioneer Town Audition Dates

The Wimberley Players will host an audition for the Halloween ‘Haunted Pioneer Town’ program on August 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and August 18 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pioneer Town Opera House at 7A Ranch. The August 15 concert with The Peterson Brothers at Susanna’s Kitchen has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.

Mystery Book Club

Thursday, August 15, 1 – 2 pm at the Wimberley Village Library. All mystery readers are invited to join the discussion of Track of the Cat by Nevada Barr. The Mystery Book Club meets monthy on the third Thursday and welcomes new participants.

Lunch & Learn Lecture: Impacts of Sugar on Your Health ~ Making Healthier Choices.

Wednesday, August 21, Noon – 1pm at the Wimberley Village Library. Get the facts about sugar from Kate Blankenship, Family & Community Health Agent from Hays County Extension Office. Topics will include: What sugar does for your body; Added Sugars; Alternative sweeteners; Reading the labels; Know your limits; How much sugar is in your food.

4th Thursday Book Club

Thursday, August 22, 11 - 1 pm at the Wimberley Village Library. Everyone is invited to join the discussion of Rocket Boys by Homer Hickham. It’s the story of Hickham and some school mates building a series of rockets as kids in the1950’s in the real life mining town of Coalwood, WV. He eventually won the National Science Fair Medal in 1960 and went to work for NASA training astronauts for the first Japanese-American mission to space. A movie was made of from the book.

Lunch & Learn Lecture: Back From the Edge ~ Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtles

Wednesday, August 28, Noon – 1 pm at the Wimberley Village Library. Tom Linton relates the story of how a small cadre of Park & Wildlife Rangers and a group of dedicated volunteers (including Tom) helped bring the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles back from the brink of extinction.

Riparian Design Workshop

The Cypress Creek Watershed Protection Plan Team will host a Riparian Design Workshop on September 4 from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center. The Riparian Workshop will have an outside portion the second half, where guides will take you through riparian areas in the Cypress Creek Watershed. Anyone is welcome to attend and learn from Hays County Master Naturalist, local landowners, and Texas Stream Team on the importance of establishing riparian areas.

Farmers Market

Bingo Early Bird games

Wimberley Area Cancer Support Group

The Cancer Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wimberley Visitors Center boardroom, 11:30-1:00, brown bag lunch. If you have cancer now or experienced it in the past, grab your lunch and join us for a relaxing time with others who share your journey. The Corral Theatre

Wimberley Cycling Club ride

All Abilities Chair Exercises

Lauren Robins and Carla Daws lead these classes that include breathing techniques, gentle strengthening exercises, mild yoga stretches, and gratitude practice – all from a seated position. Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 10:30, at the Wimberley Village Library.

Wimberley Valley Museum Hours

Go visit the Wimberley Valley Museum during the new hours of operation on Friday’s from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum is located at The Winters-Wimberley House, 14068 Ranch Road 12, in Front of the Wimberley Community Center. This Museum tells the History of the Wimberley Valley through stories, photos and artifacts. More information can be found at www.wimwic.org.

Wimberley Quilt Guild

The Wimberley Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. (except June and December) in the Wimberley Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend and hopefully join our group of quilters.
