League Of Women Voters-Hays County Informational Meeting On March 7 at 6:30 pm League of Women Voters – Hays County will host an informational meeting for fair and just voting in Hays County. The focus of the meeting will be on protecting the right to vote for all populations. The program will include information and discussion on the challenges to voting rights, proposed legislation to watch in 2019 and systemic changes necessary to maintain voting rights.

Tween Curiosity Club Meets every Saturday from 2 – 4 pm at the Wimberley Village Library and features programs of interest to tweens. The program for Saturday, March 9, will be “Squeegee Painting” with Hill Country Art. RSVP to Pat Galvin 512-847-2188 ext. 109 or [email protected]

Second Saturday Gallery Trail Every month, around a dozen local galleries stay open late and welcome people to come early, stay late for wine and enjoy the light bites and an art-filled evening. Most galleries on the trail can be reached on foot around the Wimberley Square, but there are a few that you will want to get back in your car to visit. Sunday Fundraiser Concert Series at Old Glory Old Glory Ranch will host Shelley King on March 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The concert will benefit the Wimberley Adoption Group.

Starlight Symphony “A Celebration of Youth” Sunday, March 10, 2019: Wimberley The Starlight Symphony Orchestra presents “A Celebration of Youth” featuring the incredibly talented winners of the 2019 Young Artist Solo Competition, violinists Margaret Seo and Adriana Bec. The performance will be at 4:00 pm at the Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, Wimberley, TX. Concerts are free and open to the public. www.starlightsymphony.org

Calling All Gardeners: Learn About Soil Health and Enrichment at Garden Club’s March 13 Program Joe Scott, Master Gardener, compost specialist, vegetable specialist, irrigation efficiency specialist, and fruit and nut specialist, is the speaker at the Wimberley Garden Club’s meeting on Wednesday, March 13. His highly interactive presentation and hands-on demonstrations will bring to life his expansive knowledge on how you can build and sustain healthy soil here in the challenging environment of our precious Hill Country. The club meets at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 101 W. Spoke Hill. Come at 9:30 for breakfast goodies. The program begins at 10. Star Party at Blue Hole The city of Wimberley and Texas State Astronomy Club will host a Star Party at Blue Hole Regional Park on March 16 at 7 p.m. The event is free and will be held on the soccer fields. Bring flashlights and experience the park like you never have before. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic, chairs and blankets.

Family Campout at Blue Hole

Blue Hole Regional Park will host a family camp out on March 16 starting at 5 p.m. The cost is $40 for a family of 5 in the swim lawn. Children must be supervised at all times. Come pitch your tent and enjoy adventures such as the Blue Hole Star Party, a night hike, a fire at the fire-pit and more. To register for the event, please email [email protected].

WIC Spring Meeting

The Wimberley Institute of Cultures will host a fun-filled night of trivia focusing on Wimberley and Texas History on Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center. Beginning Spanish

Fridays, starting on February 16, 10:00 – 11:15. Angelica Vargas offers a Spanish class every Friday, 10 – 11:15 am, at the Wimberley Library. For beginners or those who know a bit of Spanish and want a refresher course. No signup is required for this free class.

Mapping the Geology of Karst Terrain in Central Texas Using Vegetation

The Native Plant Society of Texas Hill Country Chapter will meet on Monday, March 18 for a program presented by Amy Clark, Geologist UTSA, specializing in environmental geology focusing on water issues. Amy will speak to us on the geology of the area explaining stratigraphic/hydro-stratigraphic units found in central Texas, defining what karst is and its significance to the region, and of using vegetation as a tool in identifying geologic units in the field when mapping. Social time at 6:00 p.m., program at 6:30 p.m. at EmilyAnn Gardens, Burden Johnson Theater, 1101 FM 2325, Wimberley. Everyone welcome! Programs are free to the public.

American Veterans Meeting

AMVETS monthly meeting will be held on the third Wednesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wimberley VFW Post on Jacob’s Well Road.

Spring Spruce Up

March 23 2019, Keep Wimberley Beautiful and the Wimberley Lion’s Club will be sponsoring a “Spring Spruce Up”, a community wide street clean up event in conjunction with statewide “Great American Clean-UP” . Registration will take place at Lion’s Field, 601 FM 2325, at 8:00am were volunteers will receive their location assignments and pick up their clean up supplies. Later, participants are invited to return for a hot dog lunch, prizes and trash related games. Because the majority of the clean up areas will be along dangerous local roadways, there is a minimum age of 16 to participate. Three Billy Goats Gruff at EmilyAnn

EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens will present Three Billy Goats Gruff from March 2 through March 24 as part of the Children’s Series. The shows are on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
