Del Castillo at Susanna’s Kitchen

On January 17, Del Castillo, an Austin-based band known for their blend of sounds including rock, flamenco, Latin, blues, and world-music into a powerful, original take will make their Susanna’s Kitchen debut. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Wimberley Film Festival

The Fifth Annual Wimberley Film Festival starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Wimberley Village Library, 400 FM 2325. The public is invited; reservations are not required; and there is no admission fee. Short movies entered into the festival competition will be shown, and judges from Austin, Wimberley and Pearland will select the winners such as Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting roles categories. Films by adults will be judged separately from those entered by students. A People’s Choice Award will also be selected and named.

WimDems Social Saturday

The Wimberley Democrats will hold their monthly Social Saturday on January 19th, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Milagro’s Hill Country Tex Mex, 9595 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley (aka The Junction). These events are free and open to the public. Program details to be announced.

WimberleyValleyWorks

7th Generation Labs is hosting an experiential workshop to create a real-time, ongoing map of the people, ideas, resources and skills that make up the Creative Brew within the Wimberley Valley. The Valley is known far and wide for what people (residents and tourists) experience here. Positive experiences strengthen relationships between neighbors and support the local economy. People create these treasures by nurturing connections across individuals and organizations. Let’s make it easier and faster to create positive experiences for ourselves, our neighbors and tourists – enriching our lives, livelihoods and community. The workshop is led by Maya Townsend, expert on all things networking and founder of Partnering Resources at partneringresources.com. Bringing People and Nature Together

The Hill Country Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will meet on Monday, January 21 for a program presented by George Eanes of Wild Birds Unlimited in New Braunfels. Join us for social time at 6 p.m. with the program at 6:30 p.m. at EmilyAnn Gardens, Burden Johnson Theater, 1101 FM 2325, Wimberley, our new meeting location for 2019. Everyone welcome! Compassion and Choices

Discussion of dying with dignity at Chapel In The Hills on the Fourth Tuesday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The next meeting will be held on January 22.

Wimberley Quilt Guild

The Wimberley Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. (except June and December) in the Wimberley Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend and hopefully join our group of quilters.

SAVVY CAREGIVER CLASS

Caregiver U presents Savvy Caregiver, a 6-week class to be offered, free of charge, to family caregivers of persons with Dementia on Tuesdays, February 5th through March 12th, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Chapel in the Hills, 14601 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley. This class includes lunch and is offered free of charge, made possible by AGE of Texas, Alzheimer’s Texas and St. David’s Foundation. This class has been designed to help caregivers who are caring for Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. Pre-registration is required by calling (512) 241-0420 or emailing [email protected]. Join us the FIRST Tuesday of every month at the EmilyAnn at 10 am! Bring your little ones and join me for some Shakespeare music time, storytelling, and a special Shakespeare Spring-time craft! Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets Wednesday evenings 6-7 PM and Sunday 3:00 - 4:00 PM, Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 FM2325. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating, binge eating and other eating disorders using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Rebos Fellowship

Rebos Fellowship, (sober spelled backwards) is a new AA fellowship in Wimberley. It is for those who are not drinking or desire to stop drinking. Closed meetings are about one and a half hours long and meet everyday Monday through Sunday at Blue Hole located at 100 Blue Hole ln., in the picnic area across from the Maintenance vehicle look for the sign on the right.
