Sunday Concert Series at Old Glory

Wimberley Garden Club Meeting

Make 2020 the year you transform your landscape with tough, beautiful plants that thrive in our Hill Country environment! Master Gardener Marilyn Lowe will show you how at the Wimberley Garden Club’s meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 101 W. Spoke Hill. The Texas Superstar ® program identifies specific plants that have been proven to thrive in our Texas heat. They provide stunning color and beauty while requiring minimal care or reliance on chemical post-control. Come ready to learn how to save money, identify these Texas Superstar ® plants, find ways to use them in your landscape, and care for them just enough to help them flourish and reward you with their beauty. Breakfast goodies are served at 9:30 a.m., and the program starts at 10. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month September to May, and guests and prospective members are always welcomed.

Alexis Pointe Senior Living Grand Opening

WAG Rescue Adoption Day

Come to King Feed, Saturday, January 11th from 12 to 2 p.m., and meet some of our fantastic dogs and puppies! You might just meet your new best friend! All available adult dogs have been fully vetted, are heartworm negative, are micro chipped and have been spayed or neutered. Puppies have been vetted, parvo tested, de-wormed and have had their shots current for their age and are micro chipped. WAG Rescue provides a spay/neuter voucher through Emancipet. If you can’t come to an Adoption Day, we are always willing to arrange a meet & greet with you. Contact us at [email protected] and we will set up a convenient time. Kelly Willis and Jamie Lin Wilson will play at Susanna’s Kitchen on Thursday, January 16. Doors open at 7 p.m. A portion of the proceeds go to Operation Good Shepherd, Barnabas Connection & Bright Beginnings Preschool at Wimberley UMC.

The Wimberley Film Fest

First, the popular Wimberley Film Fest, in its 6th year and now jointly sponsored by WVACA and the Wimberley Village Library, will be held on January 18, 2020, 6 - 8:30 pm. Wimberley’s annual film festival has attracted over 2000 entries to be juried. Films are required to be a maximum of 7 minutes in length and either be created by Texans, be about Texas, or be shot in Texas. During the ‘Red Carpet’ evening event, the Oscars come to Wimberley as audience members enjoy top picks from movie professionals and then vote on the People’s Choice Award. Prosecco and popcorn will be served, and all proceeds benefit the Wimberley Village Library.

Hill Country Wellness Reset 2020

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming Hill Country Wellness Reset (HCWR), taking place January 31st - February 1st, 2020 at Old Glory Ranch in Wimberley, TX. The price is $200 and will include two full days of workshops, keynote speakers, vendor exhibits and so much more. Participants will also have the chance to enjoy all the beauty Old Glory Ranch has to offer. The Storytelling Fest in Beautiful Wimberley

New in 2020, WVACA is excited to launch our first-ever Storytelling Fest on 02-22-2020. The day-long event will feature a wide variety of talented presenters sharing 6- to 8-minute tales designed to provoke, inspire, entertain and amuse the audience. Awardwinning raconteurs, several of whom have appeared on NPR’s, The Moth, will perform alongside revered indigenous elders and respected local chroniclers who have great stories to tell.

One Water: Cutting Costs and Protecting Our Aquifers

Language. Strategies. Practices. The least expensive water is the water we already have. In the time between the next crisis and actual policy change, communities can build water resilience through creative and thoughtful use of groundwater, surface water, rainwater, storm water, and wastewater. Gather tips from the latest success stories, hear from Texas water experts, and identify new collaborators on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center.

Wimberley Valley Museum Hours

Go visit the Wimberley Valley Museum during the new hours of operation on Friday’s from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum is located at The Winters-Wimberley House, 14068 Ranch Road 12, in Front of the Wimberley Community Center. This Museum tells the History of the Wimberley Valley through stories, photos and artifacts. More information can be found at www.wimwic.org.

Wimberley Quilt Guild

The Wimberley Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. (except June and December) in the Wimberley Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend and hopefully join our group of quilters.
