Civic Club offers grant opportunities

The Wimberley Civic Club celebrated their Fortieth Anniversary Thursday at the Opry House at 7A. The celebration champagne flowed and the help the club provides to the community just put the hundred or so members in good spirits.

And they had a right to celebrate.

It started in 1979 when a group of Wimberley area ladies got together and decided to give back to the community and to recruit like-minded newcomers. Jump ahead forty years the club provides for many organizations and scholarships for students.

According to their website the club’s purpose is”to nurture a strong community spirit through service and financial support while fostering lasting friendships among the members.”

President Becky Mc-Cullough Said, “For the past forty years, the amount of support the WCC to the community has been great. In just the past three years (2016-18) the we have given out $91000 in scholarships alone.”

The members provide unique opportunities, such as the Home Tour in the spring and other unique events to fund the philanthropic organization. See their website for more information:
