Broadway Bank robbed at gunpoint
Broadway Bank in Wimberley was robbed at gunpoint last Thursday, June 20 and the robber has not been caught.
On June 20, at 9:16 a.m., a man entered the bank wearing a gray hoodie, a flesh colored mask, blue jeans and a tan or gray baseball cap while carrying a bag.
He was armed with a black handgun with a green strip on it.
According to the sheriff’s office, there were no customers in the bank and no bank employee was injured during the robbery.
The suspect ran towards the field north of the bank into heavy brush and was not found.
“Fortunately no one was injured,” Nathan Kokemor, Marketing and Communications Directory for Broadway Bank, said. “Unfortunately, right now it is under police investigation and so that limits the amount of things we can say… What I can tell you is, from a community perspective, the outpouring of support from our customers and businesses in the area was amazing. We had more people stop by, check in and drop off food. It makes us feel good about the Wimberley community.”
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office did not release or confirm any new details as of the Wimberley View’s time of press on Tuesday, June 25.
