It’s hard to lose money on Wimberley real estate, says Patti Gibson.
With temperatures on the rise, and the days slowly but surely getting longer, it is clear that spring is coming up quickly! We all know spring is an active time in the garden, but it is also an important time to give attention to our lawns. There are several tasks to perform this time of year to help our lawns transform into the lush, green oases we all want. Oh, and word to the wise – no matter how many commercials you hear this spring, weed and feed products are not ideal in central Texas! The timing is almost always off for one or two of those components (more on that later.) The first step to a great lawn is an honest evaluation of what you have.
Congratulations to Mrs. Sarah Myers! Mrs. Myers, who teaches Focus Special Education at Wimberley High School, was recognized as the Rotary Club of Wimberley’s Teacher of the Month.
I was recently invited to speak at the Wimberley Garden Club’s February meeting. I spoke on the subject of beneficial insects. Led by Youth and Family Minister, Elisa Webster, and assistants Melissa ODell and Alexis Jones, the Youth worked diligently over several weeks to collect donations from parishioners during the Souper Bowl Sunday and Firewood Collection events held at St. Stephen’s Church in Wimberley.

A different kind of Valentines night, it not only is a treat, but shows your love of country. What? A Casino in Wimberley, Valentines and patriotism all happening in one event, in one night in one place? Sure but don’t forget the finger foods, snacks, drinks and a margarita machine.
Carolyn Wonderland is a musical force. Her powerful voice evokes Janis Joplin and is an instrument in its own right. Known for her soulful vocals, she has the guitar skills of a Stevie Ray Vaughn, and has been called an “insightful, gutsy, intelligent songwriter with an extremely versatile talent that spans just about every genre you can name.” Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse is delighted to welcome her to the stage on February 20.
The winter flowers of Central Texas have started blooming. The Bush Jasmine ( Jasminum mesnyi .), also commonly known as Primrose Jasmine, has bright yellow flowers sporadically placed on its long graceful stems. This deer resistant bush makes a great evergreen hedge.
