Wimberley Players to show The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Encanto

The Wimberley Players announced two outdoor movies in October: The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Oct 15 and Disney’s Encanto on Oct 22nd.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns again to the Wimberley Players’ big outdoor screen on Saturday, October 15, at 10 p.m. Probably the oddest, most off-thewall cult film ever made, Rocky Horror is a campy sendup of the golden days of the B-movie horror and science-fiction genre. The gender-bending, rock’n’roll satire chronicles the adventures of Brad and Janet, played by Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon, after a flat tire leads them to a castle inhabit- ed by weirdos from the planet Transylvania. Dr. Frank N. Furter, a transvestite scientist, played by Tim Curry, along with biker Eddie, played by Meatloaf, and a creepy butler, played by Richard O’Brien, are a few of the eccentrics they encounter until they meet “Rocky.” For adults, the movie is R rated. Interactive kits with props can be purchased for $5 at the theatre. (No outside props.) Tickets are $13 at the door or in advance at WimberleyPlayers.org.

Disney’s Encanto is magical fun for the whole family. It is a story about the Madrigals who live hidden in a wonderfully charmed place called an Encanto. The Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift except one of them, a girl named Mirabel. But when the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her family’s last hope. Tickets are $10; children ten and under are free. Costumes of the season are encouraged, and kids are invited to bring trick or treat bags.

Bring lawn chairs. Popcorn, snacks, and adult beverages are available for purchase at both events. Parking is in the medical center parking lot next to the theatre.

All tickets at WimberleyPlayers. org or by calling (512)847-0575.
