WAG’s new ‘Healing House’ is under construction

Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue (WAG Rescue) has an urgent need at their refuge for a dedicated area for rescued dogs with medical needs.

In October, The WAG Rescue Board of Directors had a “big wish” at their annual WAGala: To construct a separate building that could meet the needs of injured dogs, heartworm positive dogs and any dog that underwent surgical procedures. “This “big wish” was recently answered by a WAG Rescue supporter who provided a generous donation,” related Barbara Foss. “We were so grateful for the support and generosity of the donor, and we immediately got into action to make the wish a reality.”

The “big wish” donation was used to purchase the necessary building materials and a talented team of WAG Rescue volunteers, skilled in construction, are already hard at work with the building scheduled for completion in the spring. To be named the “Healing House”, it will be a quiet and calm place for the rescue dogs to rest and recuperate.

WAG Rescue couldn’t do the work they do without the help of donors who care about lost or aban-doned dogs. Their fund raising slogan has been, “Look at all the Good We Can Do” and they are very appreciative of the caring community of Wimberley and the surrounding valley.

As many of you may know, WAG Rescue has recently started a new campaign called “Shrink the Mort-gage”. The goal is to pay off the mortgage on the refuge. When their refuge mortgage is paid off, much needed funds for the daily care of the dogs at the refuge will be available to continue to save precious lives.

As the holidays approach, the WAG Rescue team is emphasizing the “Shrink the Mortgage” campaign as reducing the mortgage on the refuge can make a huge difference for rescue efforts. The WAG Rescue volunteer team is sending wishes to the community for a very happy holiday season along with gratitude for the community’s continuing support of the new “Shrink the Mortgage” initiative.
