Unique auction items take spotlight at Wimberley Players fundraiser

Be prepared before auctioneer and Players prez David Bisett shouts, “Going, going, GONE.” He’ll be pounding the gavel at the Celebrate the Wimberley Players fundraiser on Sept. 28 at Vintage Oaks Farm.

Sportsmen will surely want the stunning handmade knife and sheath from Rainbo Designs in Dripping Springs, donated by King Feed. To complete the Sportsman Special package, donated by Teresa Kendrick, you can win a Penn Graphite Fly-fish Rod and Reel, Advanced Anglers Sling Pak, hunting vest and cap, even a case of craft beer. And when you get back from the wild, schedule a haircut with the one and only Laura Trcka, also included.

Or plan the seven-night reunion of a lifetime in beautiful Nova Scotia at a lovely and completely updated Victorian home. The Princess and the Sea sleeps 12. It’s located on the Bay of Fundy in a quaint village, Port Lorne, where lobster fishing is the way of life. Bring your favorite recipe and make the freshest lobster dish ever In the big, modern kitchen.

Or you could win an unforgettable evening right here, when Bonnie Villacompo, international wine judge and founder of Texas International Wine Competition, caters a wine tasting and cheese pairing class followed by a seafood paella dinner at your home. You’ll choose the wines you want her to include with dinner.

If you’ve always dreamed of being on stage, but life happened, now’s your chance to embrace your inner stardom. A walk-on part in one of the Wimberley Players plays includes attending a rehearsal, being fitted for a costume and having your hair and makeup done. Then strut your stuff!

You might just choose to bid on a Romantic Weekend at Al Sanders’ chic Creekhouse, close to everything Wimberley. Imagine dinner for two at the Longleaf Craft Bar Kitchen and Bar and dinner for two at the Leaning Pear (that’s two nights of elegant dining). You’ll find champagne at the house for sipping on the tree-shaded deck.

A great evening is in store from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at Celebrate Wimberley Players: delectable food, a free margarita, Marvin Bottera and Broken Glass for listening and dancing. Vintage Oaks Farm is located at 400 Limestone Lane, Driftwood 78619, about seven minutes from the Wimberley Square. For last minute tickets, call the Box Office at 512-847-0575.
