Through Love to Light by the Wimberley Community Chorus

Wimberley Community Chorus presents “Through Love to Light” December 6,7 & 8 in Avey Hall at Chapel in the Hills Church, Wimberley. Winter may have sneaked in early this year, but for three nights in early December we will do our best to warm things up with a selection of traditional favorites, contemporary classics, and unique international tunes which will welcome in the season with a mix that has something for all ages.

The over 70+ voice Chorus in its 39th year, is directed this season by Calieanne Procter and accompanied by Pat Gillory.

Calieanne Procter is a graduate of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Music Performance with a concentration in classical voice. While at UNF, Calieanne studied under Dr. Cara Tasher and served as the Assistant Conductor to the UNF Women’s Chorus. In April of 2018, Calieanne served as the Assistant Conductor for the inaugural installment of the Jacksonville SINGS! Refugee Chorus, culminating in a benefit concert supporting local resettlement organizations in the Jacksonville area. Making music with and for refugee communities is a passion she hopes to spread to other cities in the US.

During her time as a choral scholar at the Church of Our Saviour in Mandarin, she regularly conducted the parish choir, further developing her love for church music and the art of choral conducting. Ms. Procter has performed with choirs on international performance tours to Portugal and the Baltic States, and as a soloist with members of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the Lawson Ensemble.

Calieanne is currently working toward her Master’s in Choral Conducting studying under Dr. Joey Martin, Dr. Jonathan Babcock, Dr. Craig Hella Johnson, and Dr. Lynn Brinckmeyer. She looks forward to sharing her passion and exuberance in the coming season, learning and growing alongside the talented choristers of WCC.

As a four-year-old sitting beside the piano bench as her mother played her live piano music radio broadcast in Conroe, Pat Gillory’s love for piano music began early. Known in Wimberley for her work as church pianist for St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Pat also enjoys singing with the WCC (when not accompanying), playing with the Wimberley Valley Big Band, and working with local high school and college students as they learn and perform competitive solos.

During her career as a high school English and writing teacher, Pat shared her love for music with The Woodlands-Conroe-Greater Houston area by teaching private lessons to both adults and young people and by playing for 12 musical-stage productions, Music Man, Cinderella, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Guys and Dolls, among others. She has also played and sung with her husband Doug Gillory, noted band leader and jazz clarinetist, on numerous occasions. Pat and Doug have 6 children and 5 wonderful “grands.”

PLEASE NOTE we have 3 identical concerts, 3 days in a row on December 6,7 and 8. The December 6th, Friday night, 7 pm concert usually has the best opportunity for you and your family to sit together. The December 7th, Saturday night, 7 pm concert is busier and the December 8th, Sunday afternoon, 3 pm concert has, upon occasion, been standing room only. The Hays County Fire Marshall and Chapel in the Hills have set the audience capacity for the Chorus concerts at 275 persons. Each night the ushers will be handing out a free ticket for that date to each person entering and when the tickets are gone no one else can be admitted. There will not be any standing room since all areas other than aisle will be used for seating. Please come early if you want a good seat.
