Chad and Ashbi Wilson are the new owners of Sugar Shack.

Sugar Shack sweetens the business

Sugar Shack has been a fixture in Wimberley since the business was started and then moved to its present location near the Leaning Pear. The aroma outside and the delectable treats inside have always been a stop on visitors’ maps and a favorite for locals.

But a change has arrived, yet you may not have noticed. There are new owners, but they are known for their confections at Goodies A-Go-Go, located at Cypress Falls.

Chad and Ashbi Wilson are the new owners of Sugar Shack and can’t be happier. As you step through the door, those heavenly smells hit you like a knockout punch and finishes with the sight of racks of baked goodies of all sorts, including gluten-free pastries.

“David Jimenez, the previous owner, is helping us out. He was interested in selling and it was just a joy to work out… We will continue and not change the store but we will incorporate our best selling items the from Cypress Falls (location),” Ashbi said.

The Wilsons have lived here for two years and moved right before they had their son. “We started at the Farmer’s Market, and then the Goodies A-Go-Go. We hope to be the go-to place for Wimberley’s sweet tooth.” She continued.

“Cheryl Turner, the original owner, used to have the Sugar Shack, (that’s how) we’d like to preserve that. With the Wimberley Pie Company closing, we have got referrals from them.”

When the holidays are here (and they are almost here), they would like to encourage customers to order early, the earlier the better. “The earlier you order the better, starting this week. The earlier you order, the bigger the discount (on the pies),” Ashbi said.

Pies, cookies, cakes they are all here. “There are six different types of crescent rolls, and over forty different varieties of baked good in the cases.” And the move?

“Thank you Wimberley so much. It’s been a whirlwind and we’ve gotten so much support. We’ve kept all of the staff; it’s been my saving grace. They know where everything is.”

Through the holidays, the previous owner, Davis Jimenez plans to help them through the busy, busy season. “He’s been super gracious and very easy to work with.”

Sugar Shack is now in negotiations with the Cactus Café at the Junction, to move their coffee and tea business to the Sugar Shack, something both sides hope they can work out.

It is a great place with wonderful bakery. Stop in and take in the sight and smells of fresh treats. For more information contact them at (512) 847-0477
