Players re-imagine fundraiser as an online auction

Another first-rate production from the Wimberley Players gets underway Sunday, Nov. 1. The traditional sit-down fundraising dinner has been replaced by an online auction orchestrated to make holiday gift-giving a breeze. More than thirty quality items will be auctioned off in a reimagination of the annual fundraiser.

“We created our fundraising auction with the holidays in mind,” says Nick Bradshaw, Wimberley Players Board President. “What better way this year to shop for family gifts than an online auction that helps sustain the Wimberley Players?”

“We have experiential gifts such as guided fly fishing, horseback riding, ziplining, and Texas Ski Ranch skate and board packages. A two-night stay for four at a beautiful Wimberley Creekhouse and a four-course dinner in the UT Stadium Club overlooking the field are up for grabs as well as beauty, sport, and fine spirit baskets. Date-night restaurant vouchers from Hays City Store and Longleaf Craft Kitchen are in the mix too.”

“We have a Southwest airlines travel bundle and an incredible 8-hour recording session at Yellow Dog Studio in Wimberley. There’s a professional drone cinematography package to capture estate portraits, garden layouts, weddings, graduations, parties - whatever you want to memorialize.

A downtown merchant basket features collectible items from our business and artist colleagues. We’re auctioning a lovingly restored Roland tandem bicycle, a Frenzy Ocean Kayak, professional percussion lessons and several opportunities to foster orphaned baby elephants through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. For young people we have Anime Drawing Books and markers, a kid’s quadcopter drone, the civilization building game, “Catan,” and valuable Frog Tutoring sessions, to name just a few of the items we have.”

The Wimberley Players auction goes live Nov. 1 and bidding ends at 8 pm Nov. 15. Go to https:// go.rallyup.com/wplayers2020 to pre-shop or look for the link by invitation via email, Facebook, and by visiting wimberleyplayers.org. Auction winners will be notified by email and pickup and delivery arrangements will be finalized afterwards.

If you haven’t attended one of the theater’s acclaimed Live Concerts and Movies in the Parking Lot, note the upcoming dates: The Tone Junkies, Friday, Oct. 30, 7:30 pm; and Pear Duo, Sunday Nov. 8, 2:30 pm; Creature from the Black Lagoon movie, Saturday, Oct. 31, 8 pm. Tickets available at wimberleyplayers.org.
