Pastor Regen serves 10 years in Wimberley

Wimberley Presbyterian Church celebrated the ten year anniversary of their pastor, Clint Regen, on Sunday, January 31 at 11 am. This Sunday also marked his 40th year in Christian ministry. The church honored him with a slideshow during the Sunday service, followed by a drive-by car parade at his home. He was also presented with a scrapbook of letters and cards. Regen arrived in Wimberley in 2011, and has embraced the town as his home. He vibrantly preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ and instructs his congregation to carry that hope through every area of their lives. The main focus of his ministry is leading people to Jesus through sound Scriptural preaching and teaching them about God’s transforming love.

WPC has a membership of more than 186 people, and Regen feels a church this size allows him to build relationships and engage with every member of the congregation. He is active in almost every ministry on campus. He preaches and offers pastoral care to all members of WPC. He also teaches youth Sunday school, confirmation classes and Vacation Bible School lessons. He leads the session and participates in many outreach projects in Wimberley.

The year 2020 brought new challenges to pastors everywhere. Regen responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a daily devotional via Facebook, in order to encourage and connect with his congregation during this time of distance. Wimberley Presbyterian Church began broadcasting virtually immediately upon the onset of the pandemic through his efforts. In addition to his work at WPC, Regen is an active member of the Ministerial Alliance of Wimberley.

Regen began his pastoral journey in college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La, when he joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduation, he moved to Jackson, Mississippi to work with students at the University of Mississippi. Later, he returned to Baton Rouge and joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge. While there, he created and led the church’s first contemporary worship service. He also led adult Bible studies and worked with the youth group.

He moved to Austin, in 1996, to attend Austin Theological Seminary. He joined the staff of Westlake Presbyterian Church, in 2000, as an associate pastor. He led their contemporary service, preached and led various Bible studies and ministries.

In 2006, he accepted the position of pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula, MS. Regen and his family arrived in Mississippi less than a year after Hurricane Katrina devastated the church and the surrounding area. He fully embraced the role of preaching and managing the church’s flood recovery efforts. He worked handin-hand with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and directly supervised volunteers from all over the United States for the next two years.

Five years later, in 2010, Regen received an invitation to become the pastor of the Wimberley Presbyterian Church. He and his family were delighted to return to Central Texas. They remodeled an old Wimberley home, and began growing roots in the community that they love.

In his spare time, Regen loves outdoor activities. He is an avid mountain biker, hiker and camper. He reads voraciously and loves to talk with people about issues large and small. His greatest joys are his three children: Renee, Caroline and Joel, and his two grandchildren, Mary Kathryn and Samuel. He is joyfully supported by his wife, Catherine Regen.

The anniversary was celebrated on Sunday, January 31 during WPC’s 11:00 service. WPC is currently worshipping in-person (limited numbers, masked and distanced, with plexi-glass barriers) while also offering streaming worship on Facebook and the church’s website, www.wimpres. org. WPC invites the public to attend worship and celebrate Pastor Regen’s first ten years with Wimberley Presbyterian Church.
