Local artist renews contract with Texas Highways magazine

Texas Highways has once again renewed a contract with local artist Linda Calvert Jacobson for her to continue to create limited-edition original paintings for the magazine’s online Gift Shop.

Jacobson was first commissioned in 2016 by Texas Highways to create a series of her wildflower paintings for its “True Texas” category, which features artists who live and work in Texas. The annual contract was renewed in 2017 and again this summer.

The paintings are acrylic on gallery wrap canvases that each measure 6 inches by 6 inches. They feature Jacobson’s unique bluebonnets with sprinkles of other wildflowers against colorful backgrounds and each painting is signed and numbered by the artist. While no two are exactly alike, collectors can order them based on the background colors.

A native Texan, Jacobson lives in Fischer with her husband David. Together, they own Wildflower Art Gallery, which they opened in Wimberley in 2015 and David manages.

Jacobson has been painting her interpretations of Texas wildflowers for more than a decade and has shown in fine art fairs and galleries across the nation, including New York, Vermont, Florida, California, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona and, of course, her home state of Texas. Her work is also licensed internationally and has been featured on products in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and in the United Arab Emirates.
