    PROVIDED BY THE LET GO.

Kick back, relax, and Let Go

Wimberley has a new community watering hole, thanks to Michael and Morgan Mekuly.

The Mekulys, who also own nearby Community Pizza, opened The Let Go in late November. The bar and restaurant offers a menu of chef-crafted bar food consisting of classic sandwiches from around the world and a bar menu of popular bar drinks. Promising a place to relax, their full name with tagline reads, “The Let Go — Get in and Let Go.”

“The Let Go is just what the town needed,” Michael said. “We heard from people that they wanted a place to sit outside with great food and a relaxing bar environment that had TVs so they could watch sports and other events.”

The Let Go’s bar menu features beer, several wines and cocktails as well as frozen Hurricanes and Margaritas. Their food menu includes reasonably priced appetizers, sandwiches, a salad and several sides. They also have menus tailored to vegetarians and kids. Online ordering is available for pickup.

Located at the junction of RR12 and Old Kyle Road, the restaurant delivers a large outdoor area with Adirondack chairs, a 14--seat bar, and a covered area with tables for diners. They can accommodate up to 140 guests.

“We had been eyeing that location for several years. We went so far as to ask Calley’s jewelry store if we could make some arrangement with their lease. When that did not materialize, we began watching the tax records to see who the new owners might be,” Michael continued. “We saw that Russ and Leslie Whisler now owned the property and we approached them about leasing. We knew him because he sells Wagyu beef around town.”

The Mekulys have been in the service industry for 27 years. Originally from Dallas, they moved to Wimberley right after the flood of 2015. Michael was the overseer of a multiunit property that included restaurants.

They will soon be starting construction on another restaurant in the El Dorado building on RR 12. They plan to serve Interior Mexican food and Tex-Mex dishes.

The Let Go is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. They are located at 3904 Ranch Rd 12, Suite 1, in Wimberley. For additional information, visit the letgobar. com.
