Kevin Welch at Susanna’s Kitchen

It has been said of Kevin Welch that his music “is probably thrown in the Country bin but if that scares you off think bigger and break down some walls.” Without a doubt, he is one of those singer/ songwriters who “will make you think while you listen.” Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse welcomes Kevin Welch back to the stage on November 15.

Born in Long Beach but raised mostly in Oklahoma, Welch spent his early career as a recording artist and producer in Nashville, writing songs for others such as Roger Miller, Waylon Jennings, The Highwaymen, Solomon Burke, Linda Ronstadt, Patty Loveless, and many others, as well as for himself.

Most recently Grammy-award winner Chris Stapleton released a version of Welch’s “Millionaire” that went to number #1 on iTunes in its first week of release. That recording of Welch’s song was named by former president Barack Obama as one of his favorite songs of 2017.

His music has carried him around the planet.

In 2008, Welch left Nashville and moved to Wimberley. He has continued to write songs, coordinate song-writing workshops, and produce music, mostly for Dead Reckoning Records, the label he co-founded in Nashville in the mid 90s.

At the end of 2017, he released a retrospective, titled Kevin Welch: The Dead Reckoning Years, a double LP celebrating his music between1995-2005. Then just this October 15 his latest album, Dust Devil, was released.

Susanna’s Kitchen is located at the corner of RR 12 and CR 1492 (at Wimberley United Methodist Church). Doors open by 7:00 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at the door and are $20 for adults, $5 for kids. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee and soft drinks are available. Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, Operation Good Shepherd, and Bright Beginnings Preschool.
