Fishing Dreams get you hooked

There is a new store in town, and it is a store for fishermen (mostly). To any and all sport fishermen, it provides a dream. A beautiful day, at just the right spot, getting that perfect cast, landing it exactly where you wanted and then, best of all, getting that perfect catch, bigger than you’ve ever seen. For some, that is something to dream about out.

Here is one place where thinking about your fishing dreams is welcomed. Located just off the Square, between the Cedar Chest and Wimberley Way, is ReelFly Outdoor Company. Donovan Kypke is the owner and fishing guide. That’s right, he’s a fishing expert and his store reflects him nicely. He offers top of the line clothing, reels, rods, you name it, it’s there. Even tied flies.

Moving into the store was ahead of his schedule, but when “the shop became available I jumped on the deal, even though it was earlier than my plans,” Kypke said.

“This is the high season, the southernmost fishing in the U.S., all of Central Texas is. The Guadalupe is stocked by the Texas Parks and Wildlife between the Canyon Lake dam and the City of New Braunfels from November to March,” with Guadalupe River Trout. This is a good time for fishing.

The store is an out branch of ReelFly Fishing Adventures that started in Sattler in 2013. They provide guided trips for some of the best fly-fishing Texas has to offer with close proximity to the Blanco and Canyon Lake. Saltwater trips on the Gulf Coast can also be arranged.

They also provide destination fishing, with trips to Mexico and the Devil’s River north of Del Rio, “the last wild river in Texas,” Kypke said. They book small groups and give lessons if needed. “Montana and Colorado are also on the list.”

Fly-fishing clinics will also be offered at the shop. He hopes to provide fly-casting lessons nearby and fly tying lessons as a part of the fly-fishing clinics. And not to forget they also have a deal with Real Ale to advertise and provide samples in the shop.

The clothing lines and apparel are some of the top names in outdoor wear such as Orbis and Howler Bros. Rods and reels offered are hard to find, top of the line that beg to be held in order to feel the quality. As for quality, the tied flies are by some of the best known in the area. They are also for sale. “We have all the tack to get somebody set up,” Kypke said.

Everything for an outdoorsman is offered, a perfect place to buy apparel, fishing equipment, rods, reel, or anything fishing for your fisherman or yourself. It is also great to come in and talk about that dream fishing trip that you have been thinking about for a while. After all this is the season for dreams, and why not have a Real Ale with it.
